6 Year Anniversary

I can't believe it's been SIX years with this guy. Crazy.
I love this picture with Zach and his boy.
I picked up some chocolates and a sweet card for him (meaning me) because I just can't lay off the Reese's Minis... they are the greatest candy to be invented since chewy sweet tart minis (what is with me and miniature candy?!?) And Zach told me to be ready with a babysitter by 7. Woohoo!
I dropped Boston off with a sweet mom friend who had been asking and asking to watch him for me and then we were off! He wouldn't say where... got lost a time or two... then called and asked for directions. This place was quite off the beaten path. I was in awe as soon as we pulled through these mint colored gates as the sun was going down and here's why:
driving through ponds filled with geese and ducks, along a road lined with beautiful trees...
This place was gorgeous! And so secluded. I felt like I was in The Secret Garden.
Especially when we pulled up to this beautiful little cottage/castle for our reservations.

It was actually kind of drizzling that night, which normally would irritate me since I'm addicted to sunshine, but it was so light and the sun was streaming through so perfectly that it was really quite magical!
We were all seated with our menus ordered and then we asked to get up and wander around some more because there just wasn't enough time and the sun was going down.
There were so many ponds, little bridges...
...quaint seating areas and streams...
...hidden pathways...
...and stone houses...
...backyard patios along the creek...
Like I said... The Secret Garden!!
Dinner was pretty good. The restaurant is French and I haven't had too much French food so I thought I'd go with lamb chops since I've never had lamb before. I was kind of nervous. It does freak me out to try other types of meat. Thinking about digging into a little baby lamb leg with my steak knife is kind of sad. But I put feelings aside and it was pretty darn good :) although Zach and I agreed that we just aren't fancy enough for such fancy food. We prefer good ole greasy American beef, burgers, and steak cause that's just how we roll.
A baked Alaska with a sparkler on the house for dessert:
And then we both just wanted to rush back to the comfort of our home like little old people. That's what babies do to you I guess.
Definitely a beautiful anniversary. I love this guy. Rain or shine, chokehold or handhold, we stick together through thick and thin! Love you babe.

Now for the REAL story.... (did you really think that was all??)

Silly me, our anniversary really snuck up on us this year with baby #2 and all. And I NEVER forget special occasions, especially if I'M involved ;) haha. I remembered it about 2 days beforehand. So I was reeeeally interested to see if Zach would remember at what point in the day he would realize it was our anniversary. Haha. Why am I always trying to ensnare him in a trap??? Too much fun.
I had planned to get a babysitter and just tell him when he got home that he could have the restaurant of his choice since I ALWAYS choose, so when he texted me about 5pm to get a babysitter, I was already prepared. Anyway, all went as stated above except that on the way home, I made him tell me just exactly when he remembered our anniversary since I knew he had forgotten. He went on with the "I would NEVER. I planned AHEAD. yadda yadda white lies..." for a bit until I laughed and said I really didn't care. I actually forgot our anniversary up until a couple days ago, so really, I didn't expect you to remember at all either. I was secretly hoping I'd be the one to remind him and see the look of shock on his face but then gave that up when I publicly dedicated my love to him via Instagram/Facebook. But then I never received any text messages shortly after....
Finally he spilled. He had spent the better part of his lunch break with his co-worker and good friend/old roommate Matt, when his othere co-worker texted him "Congrats on the anniversary!" to which he replied, "What anniversary??" and then looked at the date on his phone. Then at Matt. Then "Is today my anniversary?! Crap. We gotta go to the mall NOW!" and then while at the mall decided he'd spoiled me enough for Mother's Day so he'd take me to a nice dinner - enter Matt. He is a dating guru in search of a wife and told Zach about La Caille, the romantic little French restaurant. So the truth comes out! Haha. In truth, I don't blame him, and dinner was fabulous. AND we had Reese's minis to share at the end of the day. But man, Zach keeps me laughing, that's for sure. I told him he'd better put these things on his iphone calendar, for I might not be so forgiving in the future ;).
To top off our night, my mom friend, Heidi, had been begging to let her keep Boston for a whole night so I could get some rest. I honestly never even considered it, and surely didn't think I could let my babies out of my momma bear sight so young, but when I showed up on her doorstep... The black holes were boring into my eye sockets and my head hurt so bad, it kind of took over me! I had every intention of bringing Boston home with me and then I saw her snuggling him and all I wanted to do was sleeeeeeeep. So so bad. I was sooooo tired. So she sent me away. I wasn't even prepared! But sweetheart that she is, she had formula and his blanky and diapers and that was enough. She even told me not to set any alarms, just come by in the morning whenever I wake. So I went home and had AMAZING sleep which was a great anniversary treat :)
I woke up feeling so good and rested and ready to see my sweet boy again! And too be honest, kind of shocked/guilty that I gave my baby away when he was JUST not even 3 weeks old!! But she said he was an angel all night. I'm so lucky to have such good friends that love my babies! What a perfect way to wrap up week #3. Sleep makes a momma happy.

Week 3

Boston is quite a dream.
Love this boy. He's SO tiny! Although about halfway through week 3, I finally started to see his first little leg rolls. Finally! So cute. And it also meant he was filling out his diapers a bit more - I swear they were so loose on him, the pee would just go right out the side and soak himself rather than the diaper! Nights are still a drag... waking about 2 times to feed during the night with about 5 hours in between. Not bad, but man it's so much harder this time around when you can't nap whenever you want during the day! First borns are such a breeze...
My eyes would start to hurt about 8 o'clock at night. It's funny how I'd have to choose what I could do every day. Like if I wanted to watch a movie with Zach that night, I'd have to stay home and take a nap during the day. Or if I wanted to go to a play date with my mom friends, that meant I had to go to bed early and catch up on sleep then. I could only play for a bit and then I'd have to stay put for a few days and rest up. It made me so antsy! I constantly felt like I had errands to run and places to be but I couldn't manage it all. And Target was calling my name like the grim reaper... I didn't realize how strong my love for Target was until I was on house arrest with two babies. I LOVE TARGET! It has me wrapped around it's finger and I missed it like crazy. It has everything you need and a million things you don't need at all but HAVE to have or you'll DIE. Oh Target, I do love you. So basically I spent week two and three deciding on whether I would play with friends, sleep, go to Target, or watch a movie with Zach. And Target won a lot of the time.
Moving on.
The weather has been crazy beautiful! Warm and sunny with a breeze. Lots of outside time for Miss Bean when daddy gets home.
When daddy's gone, we just made do inside:
Her daily ritual of rushing into my closet and going through all my nail polish and pulling all my tights out of the top drawer. So much fun. Especially cleaning it up every night. Never gets old.
And we also manage to stay in our jammies for several days in a row.
playing with the bear that Uncle Jordy gave her for her birthday. She loves it! Gives it kisses. Then hangs it over the edge of the crib until she let's it plummet to it's "death".
Ok, sometimes I'm a tad fun and let G run around outside while B snoozes on the couch. But it usually ends in tears when I'm done sweating and swatting away wasps and finally drag her inside.
She wouldn't ever run through without holding my hand, she'd just run around and shake her hands in the water. Silly girl!
 Making funny faces at me.
 I love that crazy hair!

Zach's high school friend had a random business trip in SLC and he wanted to see the kiddos so we packed up and I met Zach at his work to pick him up. For some reason there was an unreasonable amount of tears that afternoon about being in the car for such a "long" drive (about 25 minutes) and both G and Bos were screaming and I was ready to buy a 3 year supply of ear plugs (is 3 years even enough??)
But hey, at least I managed to put make up on that day. Hard to do with a newborn and a toddler!
After we picked up daddy, we went to the park/splash pad by his work to play some and wait for Tyler's flight to get in. An ice cream truck just happened to pull in so Zach picked out a treat for Georgia and shared it with her as he tried to suffocate Boston - see below photograph for evidence:
Finally, we packed up again and picked Tyler up from the airport and headed downtown to The Pie - supposedly the best pizza around. It was delicious, but like my daddy, I'll always just be partial to the Maui Zaui pizza at Round Table. The babies were good all during dinner, not a peep from Boston and Georgia kept busy playing with a cup full of ice and water and some nasty floaties. Tyler has a little girl about 3 years old and it was fun to catch up and talk about parenting and our kids who we love so much :)
We were so full from dinner that we decided to walk it off at temple square. The sun was setting late (ahhh summer days, so glorious) and the weather was perfect so we strolled through the beautiful temple grounds and chased Georgia around. She was quite friendly to Tyler, talking up a storm with him and letting him carry her.  We even snapped this terrible quality ridiculous picture that somehow made it look like Zach was the 3rd wheel and Tyler and I are a family. Haha! I was dying.
It was way past bed time and my eyes were aching when we got home, but it's always a treat to see Zach's best buddies from home, it doesn't happen too often!

Week 2

Misser Bosson Byoo:
My sister and I have a history of coming up with our own weird names for our babies. They can get pretty weird. We get that from our dear weird Popsicle.
I kept telling Zach in "Boston's voice" that "A raccoon ate my butt Dad!!! Ahhhhh!" and many more musings in Misser Bosson's voice and at the end of the day, Zach just took a good look at me with a big smile on his face and said "You need a human to talk to..." hahaha! He think I'm weird.
Making time to get ready during the week is a huge bonus:
Cause most of the time, there was a lot of this going around:
Beet red after a bath:
He doesn't quite like them yet. And his poor cry is still so pitiful! So funny.
This girl has crazy hair for days:
Momma has no time for bows lately and she looks quite unfortunate most days and is usually in need of a bath... but that doesn't stop us from crashing our friend's house 24/7!
At least 3-4 days a week we all head to Heidi's after nap time to see who is playing outside in the cul de sac! Then when everyone is hot and sweaty and the kids are soaked in water, we head inside for snacks and a show so we can all sit around and talk while eating our feelings in chocolate :) it's wonderful.
This guy is still sleeping anywhere and in any position:
 While this one reeks havoc:
Yes that is my attempt at switching to hair clips instead of bows. Fail.
But at least I have been welcomed into the Mom of Bald Daughters Club by sissy's bestie where they are "pleased to have me and offer me support." So funny.
I'm dying for this girl to grow hair in the front! Cause that clip stayed all of 2 seconds and then it was hanging BY A HAIR dangling on the side of her head. So attractive. And sad for my crafting skills! I made those cute glitter clips and just want to put them to use!

"Mom, stop documenting my lack of hair."
Silly faces and lots of boogies:
I can't even believe my swollen eyes and her bald forehead. She may be a fivehead.
And this cutie still sleeping away:
More time at Heidi's...
G has probably found at least 4 pairs of sunnies that she wears almost the entire time while there.
Boston found his finger. His flaky peely finger.
I can't stand the flaky stage of newborns! Drives me crazy.
Wrapping up the week with Boston's 2 week mark. Look at that dimple!!
He was up 1 lb to about 7.9 which put him in the 20th percentile. Such a little guy!
And still drowning in his newborn clothes.
After his check up, we hit the splash pad over by Zach's work. I'd never been to one before and it was a lot of fun! The water was seriously freezing though. Like colder than hose water. So Georgia was glued to daddy for the first 15 minutes:
Eventually she was running circles around us. I could just EAT those chunky little leggies! I love her run, it's so jaunty and bouncy.
It took serious prodding and courage to run through this without daddy:
Just LOOK at how HIGH that water is shooting!! Hahaha.

Every time I see this picture, I start to sing "Who's that ladyyy, sexy la-adyyyy"
So stylish!
That night, I was even quite generous for a post partum wife and got a sitter for Georgia and planned an evening for us at the movies to watch Godzilla - Zach was dying to see it.
We brought Boston and a bottle and all went well, I just held him the whole movie and fed him when he started to wake up. We even got to squeeze in some ice cream from Leatherby's.
And he just snoozed away. Not a bad end to our week!
