The ATL

Lucky me, I convinced Zach that anytime he had business in a cool location, we should get to come along! This time, Zach had work in Atlanta and it just so happens that he has an awesome Aunt Cheryl & Uncle Gordy who just happen to live in a ginormous mansion (as in - pick any room(s) you'd like...ummm I choose all) in Marietta so I thought it would be fun to stay with them and better than staying in a little hotel room together. In hind-sight, it probably would have been better to stay home and keep at Georgia's sleep schedule since we have Cancun coming up next week... and Zach wouldn't have had to ban us from all future work vacations :(
A relatively short flight... Georgia did really well!
The first thing I noticed: I have never been in any place so GREEN before!! It was gorgeous being surrounded by all the trees and plants! Amazing. Here is the front of Aunt Cheryl's home, it's set on a hill and surrounded by greenery so it's hard to see from the street.
And on the night stand in our room:
That's Zach there in the middle! What a goober...
The first night, Georgia slept well and I went in to check on her and found her smiling and giggling in her sleep. So great.
This is my awesome Aunt Cheryl, too bad I didn't get her front side...
And her 3...lovely...dogs. Biting my tongue, skin crawling. Aunt Cheryl is really outdoorsy and loves walking her grand baby and dogs everyday along her street which is lined with the most beautiful homes! I just had to snap a few photos of my favorite ones:

G had a nice little nap in between all this...

It was a gorgeous walk with little creeks everywhere and right up against the Chattahoochee River. They are in an area where a lot of "old money" is as we were told, so all the streets have old plantation names and the homes are set on the prettiest land with horses and water surrounding them. It's amazing. And I almost wanted to live there until I remembered the nasty bugs and critters and mosquitoes that are obsessed with my Asian flesh...
After relaxing the first day at home, I dragged my Aunt and our babies to downtown Atlanta to take a tour of the Margaret Mitchell House. I had been planning this part of the trip for so long and I couldn't wait! Too bad it was like 15 minutes long and nothing was original except the tiles on the floor ;)

Oh well. I still got to learn a lot about the author of my favorite book in the entire universe. Margaret was practically a Scarlet herself, confirming what I knew to be true all along - The book is true. The characters are real. Those events actually happened. And after a year of suppressing my emotions, learning to let go, and dulling the pain, I found myself right back at it - What went wrong? They love each other! And on and on, recounting her multiple marriages, their children, their fights... sighhhh I'll have to read it again obviously :)
How could you stare into these eyes and not realize that YOU LOVE RHETT BUTLER.
Scarlettttttt whyyyyyyyy. This is why:
She's a crazy biotch! And I am definitely not mastering her stink eye face...
As soon as I saw her cutout, I sent a pic to my sissy!
Zach doesn't exactly embody all that Rhett is... but who can. And me? Nobody bothered to tell me my head was facing the wrong way...
This is the painting that hung in Scarlet & Rhett's room on the set of the film!
And I couldn't leave without getting a picture next to this sign... walking where Scarlet walked so many years ago ;) I'm telling you - they're real!
Just ask Zach - he would tell you it was worth the $35 parking ticket he got for not paying the meter while trailing along taking all my pictures for me. He likes to stick it to the man and snub the $2 so he can flip out at the $35 ticket. LOVES it. So much fun.
Perks of tagging along on Zach's work trips: free shmoozing from desperate contractors at fancy steakhouses :) Yes, I ordered the filet mignon. Two nights in a row.
And this one was pretty good during dinner.
Chilled in the booth out of sight and explored sucking her thumb.
All in all, a good couple of days in the ATL and ready to head south to
Savannah for some southern charm!
